District of Chetwynd

ANNOUNCEMENT

Mayor Evan Saugstad and members of Council are very pleased to announce that Doug Fleming has been hired as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the District of Chetwynd.

Mr. Fleming brings over 28 years of municipal government experience to the role of CAO.   He has held the positions of Deputy Clerk / Treasurer, Corporate Administrator and CAO.  Mr. Fleming has worked for a broad range of communities and has great insight into the dynamics of different local government operations.  Mr. Fleming is dedicated, hard working and a proven leader. 

Mayor Saugstad commented on the selection process, “As a result of our progressive community and its diversified economy and unlimited opportunities, we attracted numerous qualified applicants.  This allowed us to hire a candidate with the greatest capability and experience.   Council is delighted to have Mr. Fleming join the District and we are looking forward to working with him on the needs of the community.”

Mr. Fleming stated today that “I am looking forward to commencing my duties with the District. My wife Leslie and I have a number of close ties and friends in Chetwynd. In fact, we started our family in this wonderful community. Chetwynd has always had a positive and progressive attitude and I look forward to assisting the District in every way I possibly can."

Mr. Fleming will begin his position as the District’s CAO on November 16, 2009.
