CHILD ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS


WATCH ME GROW

6mos – 30mos

This parent participated program will chart your child’s growth physically and socially.  Watch your child grow as they experience new sights, sounds, textures and friends.  The program will be packed with climbing, singing, jumping, painting, stories and more.

JUMPIN’ JELLY BEANS

30mos – 4 years

We’re going to shake … shake … shake our sillies out and then jump and sing and wiggle and giggle.  This high energy class will keep your child active with some creative arts and stories for those much needed breaks.  Each month will have a new theme.

MOVE & GROOVE DANCE                   

3 – 4 years

Instructor: Jaana Wilkinson

This class is designed for 3 – 4 year olds to explore movement and music.  Students will work on flexibility and coordination in a fun environment.  Ultimately, students will work on a piece for the year end recital.  Maximum 12 students

RYTHMICS GYMNASTICS                    

4 – 7 years

Instructor: Cristina Roque

Participants will use rhythmic apparatus in time to music, such as ribbon, hoops, rope, and balls. Rhythmics combines ballet and gymnastics skills with an emphasis on grace, flexibility, strength and musicality. Participants will work together and learn choreography that will be performed in the year-end recital.

ACRO DANCE

4 – 5 years                  

Instructor: Cristina Roque

Consists of gymnastic tricks combined with dancing with the help of strength and flexibility training and rhythm and musicality. Participants will learn somersaults, cartwheels, back bends and many other gymnastics tricks as well as dance choreography. Participants will work together and learn routine choreography that will be performed in the year-end recital.  (skills will range depending on age/ability)

September 30 – May 19

WALLY BALL CLUB

Wallyball (known in some places as rebound volleyball) is a fast-paced sport that was created by Joe Garcia, in 1979 and originally called "ricochet ball."  We would like to encourage volleyball enthusiast to try this new sport opportunity.  Register your team prior to October 1st

For those younger volleyball players we will be offering an after school drop-in Walleyball experience.  Grab your friends and come out for an afternoon of fun.

CLIMBING CLUB


6 – 9 years +

Join the after school climbing club and learn climbing technique, knot tying, belaying basics, route selection and more.  This is a great opportunity for kids who have the want to improve on their climbing abilities, making new friends and keeping in shape.

POWDER KING SKI TRIPS                              

12 years +

Standard Bus will be sending a bus to Powder King Ski Hill Saturdays once the hill is open for operation. A minimum requirement of participants will have to be met each time.

Register at the Rec Centre no later than 2:00pm each Friday. 

Standard Bus waivers must be signed by parent/guardian of anyone under the age of 18. 

No drop-ins on Saturday mornings.

CYCLE FIT                                                       

Teen – Adult

Cycle Fit is a CO-ED group exercise done on a specially designed bike. This class is designed for beginner to advanced riders due to the fact that each rider controls his/her own intensity on the bike.

Cycle class includes warm-up, ride, cool-down and stretch.

YOGA CLASSES

Body Flow (yoga/pilates/tai chi)

This is a combination class where participants will warm up with tai chi routines, following into beautiful yoga sun salutations and standing strength poses. Pilates core abdominal and back workout is followed by yoga strength and stretching poses to increase flexibility. Finally, ending with a relaxing and re-focusing guided mediation to help center each participant. Join in to feel long and strong.

HATHA / BEGINNER YOGA

Instructor: Corea Hillton

Corea will lead her participants through a series of gentle asinas. The focus of this class will be relaxation, flexibility and increasing range of motion. Yoga is a form of non-competitive exercise that anyone at any age, shape or physical ability will benefit from.

LADIES CLIMBING CHALLENGE

This new program will give ladies a chance to challenge themselves by completing different routes on our indoor climbing wall as well as strength building and flexibility.  The program will consist of climbing technique and body strengthening exercises.

This program is an introduction to Hip-Hop with a focus on strength and flexibility.  This class will be a fun, challenging workout comprised of stretching and strength exercises, dance steps and choreography.

 All abilities welcome.

WALK / RUN TRACK                            

16 years + unless supervised by an adult

Our track is located on the upper deck of the newly expanded Rec Centre.  Access via our main reception desk.  It is free to use the track … we ask you to check in so we know who is in the building.

Open to 16 years and older (unless supervised by an adult). 

Clean indoor white soled running shoes only. 

Open the same hours as the pool. 

The track is 120 meters long.  Approximately 8.5 laps = 1Km

Strollers are not permitted

 




SQUASH /
RACQUETBALL COURT


Our court provides you with a moveable wall which allows for both squash and racquetball.  A private dressing room, shower and washroom are available for court users. 

Court must be booked and pre-paid at the Rec Desk.  No-shows will be charged for their time booked.


Clean indoor shoes must be worn. 

Equipment rental is available at the Rec desk.


$10.00 + hst for 1hr

Save 10% by purchasing a 10 visit punch-card or save 15% when purchasing a 20 visit punch-card.

Dress up in your favorite costume for this year’s SPOOKtacular evening of Halloween games, Haunted house, Crazy crafts, Kiddie games, Goodie Bags, Fireworks and more.

This annual event is FREE and open for all ages.
