Mayor & Council

Message from the Mayor

On behalf of District of Chetwynd Mayor and Council, a warm welcome is extended to all who may be interested in what Chetwynd has to offer. If you’re looking for a large and inviting Rec Centre, reasonably priced real estate, a friendly, multicultural and active community, great schools, stunning natural surroundings and a very low crime rate; come to Chetwynd!

The Chetwynd & District Rec Centre has large banquet halls, meeting rooms, six-sheet curling rink and hockey arena, climbing wall, gym, indoor walking track, four 25-metre swimming lanes, a beach area, wave pool, a water slide voted as Number 1 in BC for 2018, large hot tub, and a dry sauna.

Take a tour of some of our 175 km of maintained trails, enjoy our green spaces and outdoor Fit Park, visit the Chetwynd Public Library, Visitor Centre, the Northern Lights College or go shopping. The vibrant businesses and diverse industries are some of the reasons Chetwynd won the 2018 Provincial Open for Business Award. Chetwynd also has an active arts and cultural community, and is home to the annual International Chainsaw Carving Championship.

Come for a visit! We’re sure you’ll see why Chetwynd was declared one of the 30 Most Charming Towns in Western Canada by Top Value Reviews.

Allen Courtoreille, Mayor
